Day 4 prompt for Poetic Asides 2012 November PAD Challenge was “Just Beneath ______ ” as the title of your poem. I thought of a humorous family story – and while sharing it, saw the message within. Did you start your poetry challenge yet? Jump in, the link is below!
JUST BENEATH THE STAIRCASE
In the coal cupboard
He said he slept as a childIn a foreign land
And I believed his spoken word
As his dad’s heart radiated a coldness
That threatened to encapsulate warmthTo strangle even me
But bearing witness to one truth
Sucks reality from the next. And years later, laughter bellowing
My gullibility acknowledged
Coal cupboard deniedAnd years later, written word exposed the moral
Truth and logic exposed
Non-compatible.MeeAugraphie

Day 3 prompt from Poetic Asides was to write a poem that scares you. Again, I went with my gut reaction.
A COMMON THREAD?
She has no fear
Speaking her truths to those in pain
Reaching inward for words to help, not harmShe has no need to
Play the naked game to find
Courage to speak before a crowdShe delegates with ease
Even to the abrasiveShe embraces the parenthetical
Sees nuances in all
Loves unconditionallyBut trembles at best
Refuses at worst
To walk into room of strangers
To play the socialization gameAnd reverts to third person to share this truth….

Day 2 prompt at Poetic Asides was to write a poem about a Full Moon. I took poetic license, to say the least. (I go with my first thought usually.)
MOONED
Harmless prank
Muffled gigglesDrunken dare
Guffaws belchedCar window or field of grass
Back to others
Hands yank pants
Bare skin flashedMoon’s ethereal status
Eclipsed by man

Still time to jump in. Do not have to post on your own blog – or even at all. This is the link to Day 1′s prompt.
Have fun with it! I certainly am. It feels good to be emoting again.
